Since 1949, TVCC has been working with children and youth to help them reach their full potential. Today, a wide range of services and supports are provided for young people with physical disabilities, communication disorders, developmental delays and autism spectrum disorders to support them in attaining the best available quality of life and health. In partnership with local and regional agencies, TVCC annually serves more than 11,000 children, youth and their families from birth to age 19 across Southwestern Ontario in over 700 locations.
We are currently recruiting for a temporary, full time (37.5 hours per week) Therapy Assistant in School Therapy Services. The designated office for this position is Stratford and regular travel within Huron and Perth is required.
This position is expected to begin in November 2025 and end June 26, 2026. This position is based on the school year and no work is available during school breaks.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with direct/indirect client intervention (individual and group) in public and private schools, in the community and at TVCC office locations to meet goals outlined by Speech Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist
- Discuss and demonstrate successful strategies to families and school team members
- Assist with a variety of program support activities, including assisting with the development and sharing of resources, as well as supporting presentations to clients, families and schools
- Client-related activities will occur under the supervision of a Speech Language Pathologist, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist as per their respective college guidelines
Qualifications:
- Graduate from a recognized Communicative Disorder Assistant program or OT/PT Assistant program. OT/PT Assistant is preferred;
- Working knowledge of child development and play
- Experience working with children with disabilities
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office 365 and videoconferencing software (ex. Teams)
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence and access to a vehicle are required
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
