Pinafore Station Co-Operative Housing – St. Thomas, ON
We are a well-established non-profit housing cooperative—a unique living community where residents are members who collectively own and manage the property. We are committed to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-cared-for environment for our members.
We are currently seeking a reliable, motivated, and proactive Handy Person to help maintain the day-to-day operations and upkeep of our residential property. The right candidate will be hardworking, detail-oriented, and have a strong sense of responsibility and pride in maintaining a community-focused living space.
Description / Duties:
- As the Handy Person, you will be responsible for general interior and exterior maintenance, routine inspections, unit turnovers, and seasonal upkeep
- You’ll work closely with our office administrator, senior property manager, and occasionally with contractors to ensure the property remains in excellent condition
- Perform daily inspections and report concerns to the Board of Directors
- General maintenance and repairs (painting, drywall, minor plumbing/electrical, etc.).
- Groundskeeping: mowing, trimming, weeding, fertilizing
- Snow removal and salting in winter months
- Cleaning and upkeep of common areas and units
- Handle unit turnovers including cleaning and minor repairs
- Maintain an organized inventory of tools and supplies
- Track and complete work orders in a timely manner
- Assist in coordinating with third-party contractors when necessary
- Communicate regularly with staff and tenants in a professional and respectful manner
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times
- Respect and uphold tenant confidentiality
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Prior experience in custodial or maintenance roles preferred
- Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and repair techniques
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labour
- Strong multi-tasking and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Valid Driver's License and access to a vehicle preferred (mileage reimbursed)
