The hiring process will take several days to complete the following steps in sequence:

- 3 year Uncertified Drivers Abstract (not CVOR)
- Pass the drive and lift evaluation.
- Pay CAD 350/- registration fees of the “First Responder” training course.
- Attend in person the “First Responder” training course for one week (Monday – Friday) at Voyago campus.
- Complete several online training courses related to the main course that may take up to three days.
- Perform the non-sequential six days of field training (on the road training) with one of Voyago’s professional team, based on their availability.
- Pass the final “On The Road” test with the supervisor, since you are going to work the with supervisor as a team completing live calls during a normal business day.
A CAD 500/- will be transferred to you as a bonus, once you pass your final road test, and be ready to start your new career.
A patient transfer attendant is responsible for the safe and comfortable transportation of patients to and from healthcare facilities, nursing homes, or private residences. This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, empathy, physical strength for patient handling, and the ability to follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure patient safety. Key duties include transporting patients in wheelchairs or on stretchers and maintaining patient comfort.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Transport:
Safely and comfortably move patients via wheelchair or stretcher between locations such as hospitals, nursing homes, and private residences.
Patient Care & Comfort:
Provide ongoing comfort and care to patients during transport, ensuring their well-being.
Equipment Handling:
Effectively and safely operate and maintain transfer equipment, including wheelchairs and stretchers.
Communication:
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
Adherence to Protocols:
Follow all established safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure transfer environment.
You have to obtain the AEMCA Certificate (Advanced Emergency Medical Care Assistant) – AEMCA training course will be provided free of charge for everyone who is going to attend the full course (one week training course – Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm), and pass the final exam (written and practical).
You possess a valid G class driving license, with a clean driving record.
You can remain calm in an emergency situation.
You have the ability to lift 250+ lbs. using a stretcher or stair chair with partner.
You can effectively communicate in both verbal and written English.
You can obtain a clean Criminal Record Search with Vulnerable Sector.
You have up to date immunization records and can provide the following records of: MMR, DPT, Polio, Varicella, Hepatitis B, COVID-19 (2 doses), TB Skin Test (Step 1) "must be valid within last 12 month".
You can work up to 12hrs floating day shifts Sunday - Friday (Saturday off).
