Overview:
As an Accountant at Lambert Cook, CPA, you’ll be at the core of our company’s commitment to delivering timely, accurate, and compliant tax services for our clients. Reporting to the Owner, you’d ensure seamless, high-quality accounting operations and uphold our reputation for trusted, proactive support.
In addition to managing a wide range of corporate and personal tax matters, you’ll play a key role in supporting and training the team, providing guidance on complex accounting issues, and empowering our clients to plan with confidence. What You’ll Own & Influence:
Ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant client filings by:
- Preparing and reviewing complex corporate year-end financial statements and T2 tax returns
- Preparing complex personal tax returns (T1), as needed
- Filing GST/HST, payroll, and other government remittances
- Responding to CRA reviews, notices, and audits
- Maintaining accurate client files and ensuring compliance with professional standards
Providing support, training, and quality control by:
- Supporting and training our bookkeepers and other staff on the team
- Reviewing completed bookkeeping files and adjusting journal entries for accuracy
- Assigning and prioritizing tax and accounting tasks among team members
- Conducting quality control reviews before submissions
- Partner with our team through day-to-day support and training.
Building client relationships and delivering proactive advisory by:
- Acting as a key point of contact for accounting and tax inquiries
- Communicating complex financial and tax matters clearly and accessibly
- Building trust and long-term relationships with clients
- Identifying opportunities for value-added advisory and tax planning services
Driving process improvement and operational excellence by:
- Identifying and optimizing accounting technology and workflow solutions
- Training staff on new tools and software (e.g., QuickBooks)
- Helping develop and refine internal processes for greater efficiency
Contributing to firm growth and strategic direction by:
- Collaborating with the owner on capacity planning and business strategy
- Assisting with onboarding and training new team members
- Contributing insights and energy to firm-wide initiatives that improve service and support future growth
- CPA designation in good standing
- Minimum 5 years of experience in public accounting
- Strong experience preparing and reviewing corporate and personal tax returns
- Proven mentorship and training abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Advanced proficiency with accounting and tax software (e.g., QuickBooks)
- Highly organized and comfortable in a dynamic, growing small business environment
