Position Summary
We are currently seeking a motivated Truck Shop Assistant to support our skilled technician and help keep the shop running smoothly. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in the heavy-duty truck and equipment repair industry with an opportunity for growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the routine preventative maintenance on diesel trucks and equipment, including lubrication, oil changes, fluid checks, and filter replacements.
- Assist with inspecting vehicles and equipment for signs of wear, leaks, or potential mechanical issues, and report findings to the lead technician or supervisor.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the maintenance of the shop, bay, yard, tools, and equipment to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
- Assist technician with basic repairs and part replacements as directed, including tire checks, battery maintenance, and light mechanical tasks.
- Document all maintenance activities accurately including services performed and parts used.
- Monitor and replenish shop supplies such as grease, oil, filters, and cleaning materials.
- Support road call responses by preparing tools and parts or assisting with minor on-site maintenance tasks.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with drivers and other team members regarding vehicle conditions and maintenance needs.
- Follow all safety protocols, environmental regulations and company procedures as outlined by the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Environment and Maximum Diesel (Ontario) Inc.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the maintenance supervisor or lead technician.
Valid G driver’s license
- Basic mechanical aptitude and/or understanding of vehicle systems, including diagnostic and maintenance. Software knowledge is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow maintenance schedules and safety procedures.
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a physically active environment.
- Punctual, reliable, and able to work independently or with a team.
- WHMIS and basic safety training as an asset (training provided if not certified)
